r
For this reason, the Bear Coal Company, Inc., hereby requests a
minor revision to our permit which would enable us to transport
approximately 650 cubic yards of development waste to the tempo-
rary development waste storage area on the surface at the Bear
Number Three Mine. After placement here, the waste material will
be placed into a permanent waste storage area with the other
material presently contained within the temporary storage area.
From experience, we have found that each foot of advancement in
slope generates 4.31 cubic feet of development waste. Since the
grade of the slopes is about 15$, we estimate that the length of
ramp #2 will be 250 feet. Therefore we will generate approxi-
mately 1150 cubic yards of waste in this ramp. Ramp #2 has been
advanced 75 feet as of this time and the development waste dis-
posed of in the B Seam workings as stipulated in TR-3. Within
the C Seam workings we have room to store approximately 110 cubic
yards of waste for subsequent placement in the B Seam following
the completion of ramp #2. As per the following breakdown, this
leaves approximately 650 yards which will have to be transported
to the temporary storage area outside the mine:
1,077.50 (250 feet X 4.31 cu yds per foot)
- 323.50 (amount disposed of in the B Seam)
- 110.00 (amount stored in the C Seam)
644.00 (yards to be placed in the temporary storage
area)
TR-3 gave Bear permission to store the development waste from
ramp #4 within the temporary storage area. The amount of this
waste was estimated to be approximately 1400 yards. But since
development ramp #4 was 175 feet in length when completed instead
of the projected 250 feet, approximately 755 cubic yards of mate-
rial was placed within the temporary storage area instead of the
projected 1400 cubic yards.
When approved, this revision will allow for the placement of an
additional amount of waste material of about 650 cubic yards
within the temporary storage area. This amount when added to 755
cubic yards placed here by the development of ramp #4 will amount
to an additional 1405 yards of material placed within the storage
area rather than the 1400 yards projected in TR-3. Therefore the
impact of this revision will be approximately only 5 additional
cubic yards of waste material. This amount will easily fit
within the 100 foot diameter of the temporary storage area when
placed properly.
2
