i
Ms. Erica Crosby
Division of Minerals & Geology
June 29, 1999
Page 2
C
Structures within 200 ft of mining area: Steamboat Valley Road. The portion of the road that is on the
west side of the valley is not owned, maintained or considered as Steamboat Road. However, Arkins Park Stone
and the Sprague's commit to keeping that portion of the road that crosses our property to the west in safe and
useable condition for the three prop~nty owners (one of them being us) that have the right to use it. Except for the
Arkins Pazk comercial use, it will not be used commercially by anyone other than us. We expect to do some work
on the road to widen it to the sixty foot easement allowance described it our deed.
The west quarry will be active d'tredly adjacent to the road for a while, and we will need to use the road
to load trucks, move loaders, and establish a work deck. We will keep the road in safe end passable condition.
These roads were established many yeazs ago by the many quarry workers that had to travel on it by oxen and
mules and now by pick-ups or trucks. We have the large loaders and machinery to keep these roads in good shape.
The quarry activities will in no way affect the roadway in an adverse way but will instead add to the stability and
useability of it. If any damage is done to the road by us, Arkins Park or the Sprague's will be financially and
personally responsible for the repah~ of same.
Geoteehnical stability eshibit. The distance Cann our quarries to the nearest houses ere shown on the
main map and have been calculated. according to the scale. They are circled in black and the distance to the
nearest blasting azee is written nearby. The blasting information sent to the Division will be altered in the
following manner: the size and quantity of the blast at six to twelve holes at a time will remain the same.
However, the amount of blasting wi II be changed to read "as needed", and not estimating a minimum or a
maximum, but it should be about the same as it has been before.
Our working hours and days aze as follows: daylight hours and according to the weather and market
need. We normally work an eight to tart hour shift, as needed, five days per week, and 5 hours an Saturday, in the
warmer months. We do not work cn Sunday, but, sometimes Neil and I will take a ride [o the quarry so he can
evaluate the next week's needs. We do not want restrictive hottrs placed on any of our activities that may violate
our personal rights to be on our own property at our leisure. We also want the permit to include our entire property
for the same reason.
Thank you very much for .your time.
Respectfully yours,
ARKINS PARK STONE CORPOP:ATION
Neil & Judy Sprague
r~

7
'f
I
sc-
q I~~
