I have also color ailed the map to show the expected mining areas, waste or rip-rap piles and top
soil piles. These maps also include a legend to show these areas and roads, outlines of the expected active area and
the total area to be permitted by Sprague's to allow for the free access and use ofthe property without interference
by other non-interested parties. W'e commit to not pushing any mare rocks over the road to the west into Eagle
Canyon, but would like the priviledge of widening the road to the north and using the existing rip-rap piles located
on the map to the north of the #2 quarry for waste that was not able to be sold for ditch or lake fill, which would be
our first choice. The waste rack iri the other two quarries will be stored, compacted, and incorporated into the
work decks or staging areas of those quarries because that is how it is cared for now. It will be used later for the
reclamation. There are four maps included.
The discrepancy showing activity to the west of the road was to allow for the reclamation of the stones
that were pushed over the edge to give us adequate time [o resolve this to the best of our ability. It was not to
represent additional activity with the exception of reclamation.
Response to D.O.W. rnaamenb: The applicant, Arkins Park Stone, WILL CI-IECK ALL TREE THAT
ARE TO BE REMOVED AND ROCKY CLEF AREAS TO BE MINED for the presence of RAPTOR NESTS
prior to mining such areas. If neets are found , the D.O. W, will be notified to check to see if they are active or
not. The recomendations of the D.O.W. will be followed at that time.
Reclamation will occur ir, stages. As one area is depleated it will be reclaimed with the fines and top soil
reserved in the work decks or staging areas. Because these areas are well compacted but still pourous, they absorb
the run off from the bare quarry areas. Also, we cover the edges of these areas with strip ends and waste rock so
that no tap soil is exposed to erosion or run-off. When we reclaim the areas we will replace the trees, shrubs and
native grasses as stated in our previous seed and tree statement, or on a one-to-one basis, if that exceeds what we'd
aUeady planned. Small trees undt:r six foot tall will be used to provide a better chance of survival. Native grasses
including at least three out of the following: Western Whea[grass, Smooth Bromegrass (or Mountain Brome),
Slender Wheatgrass, Sideoets Ganoma, or IntermediateWheatgrass will be used at the rate of fifteen pounds per
ace when needed for temporary cover on stock piles of soil that will sustain growth and prevent erosion. We will
keep a small supply of these grasa~ available at all times for reclamation purposes.
