24, 1998 -3- 983-2348.195
groundwater is more frequently encountered, a phreatic surface was modeled at the top of
the foundation soil.
It is important to note, however, that the infiltration of runoff into the overburden storage
facility, and the generation of an elevated phreatic surface within the overburden material
would decrease the FOS. In order to minimize this potential condition, CC&V should
employ means to divert surface runoff from the upstream face and crest of the overburden
material, into drainage channels that will transport the surface water runoff into the
upstream detention pond. The channels should be on the outboard side of the roads and the
road should be regraded such that surface water is diverted into these channels.
Golder appreciates the opportunity to provide engineering services to CC&V for the
Cresson Project. Please contact the undersigned with any questions regarding this letter
report.
Sincerely,
DE ASSOCIATES INC.
Terry Mandziak,
Senior Engineer .

James M.
