(Deposition of James Tatum)
reach this side and I didn't want to do it that way
because we were going to have a right-of-way and an
easement and a power line that was much longer than
necessary to do this job. And I wasn't willing to
cough up as much of the property as they wanted to
do under his initial concept.
This went on for some period,
couple of months or so, while they negotiated or
talked to San Isabel -- what is the power company
here -- about an alternative method. They had
power coming up the railroad right-of-way or on the
south side of the valley that had, I guess, the
amperage and voltage requirement that they needed
for this thing but they didn't have it on the north
side of the highway so they had to jump across the
valley with a power line to get just to the site
that they needed or this side.
Ultimately it was decided that
they would come into it from the east and not have
to tear up as many trees and not have to do as much
destruction to the surface to get the power to the
place, so that became a more acceptable proposal to
us.
Q. where did the negotiations go from that
point?

MEEK & ASSOCIATES
3rd Ave., Pueblo, Co 81008 (719) 542-1010
