Dept. of lateral Resources
Enclosed is a plan to resolve the concerns of MLRD related to drainage
and vegetation recently disturbed by the required access of the old Blue
Ribbon Mine road.
First, you are advised that personnel changes have occurred recently.
Bruce Collins, formerly Blue Ribbon Mine Superintendent, has transferred to
our Delta Operations office. .Joseph J• (John) Gabossi is the new super-
intendent effective December 15, 1981.
Joining Bruce in the Delta office is Marvin Adam, Chief Engineer of
Delta Operations. Mr. Adam was employed in that capacity October 26, 1981.
With Mr. Adam responsible for engineering at both Blue Ribbon and Grand Presa,
it is anticipated that he will be involved heavily in permit type work.
ABATEMENT PLAN FOR THE VIOLATION
Drainage - A small berm will be constructed to ensure that drainage
from the recently disturbed portion of the old Blue Ribbon fan access road
will be adequately handled. Mr. Adam intends to connect the drainage from
the old access road into the new sediment control system being modified to
meet the current regulations.
You should be aware that the purpose of using the old road was to remove
the mine fan and properly seal the old workings to ensure proper ventilation
in the mine now being operated. To complete this task the old mine fan road
will be utilized possibly twice more. After completion of the seal and related
earth work, the berm construction will be completed with schedule being weather
dependent. The mine proposes a deadline of May 15, 1981, with an intention
to complete this earlier if weather allows.
