Letter: MLRD
Re: File No. M-77-210
4/20/90
Project No. 89002

QUESTION NO. 7, SILT DEPTH MARKER. OWA
RESPONSE: The use of a single fluorescent orange marker on each riser
to mark the maximum sediment level will be utilized instead of incremental
depth marks on the risers. The single mark will be located on each riser
so that cleaning of the pond is required when the mark is no longer
visible due to sediment depth.
QUESTION NO. 8, REPORTING CLEAN-OUT VOLUMES. OWA/Heifner.
RESPONSE: The Operator will commit to record the approximate volume
of sediment removed from the pond during clean-out operations. This
information will be Included in the permit annual report.
Hopefully these responses adequately address the concerns of the Division.
We certainly appreciate your continued assistance with what has been an
extremely lengthy and sometimes difficult problem for all parties concerned.
It is the intent of the Operator to begin construction on the upper
Sediment Basin the week of April 30. Some of the alterations within the
quarry itself have already begun. We feel it is in everyone's best interest to
have both basins on line and operational as soon as possible given the Spring
rain season which we are already experiencing.
If there are any additional questions or if there is anything the Operator
or the Consultants can provide to obtain approval oP the design, please a~ntact
Mr. Morgan, Mr. Heifner or myself.
In behalf of the Operator we would once again like to thank yourself and
the rest of the staff for all oP their assistance with this problem.
Very truly yours,
OBE~RIQN~G, W~URTH 1~ ASSOCIATES
Roland G. Obering, PC/
for and on behalf of
Castle Concrete Company
RGO/p
__...~.~ ... ..._, ...__,..__.~_~.u ~.,__._.~..,.~.--,.emu„_
