The pressure will be
monitored on a monthly basis. Should the pressure exceed 11 psi, the monitoring frequency may
need to be increased to ensure the plug is operating adequately.
3.3.2 Visual inspections around plug and portal
Visual inspection of possible seepage around the adit plug will take place during this monitoring
period, when the plug is accessible on a monthly basis. If seepage is detected, flow will be
directed to the infiltration trench. At this time, infiltration trench monitoring will take place as
described in Table 2.2.
Visual inspection around the portal will also take place in to detect the possible development of
springs and seeps. This inspection will also be performed on a monthly basis during this period.
3.4 Tracer test monitoring
Additional water quality monitoring will be part of the proposed tracer test and include collection of
a sample of Windy Gulch water at the rectangular weir. The sample will be collected on a monthly
basis far the initial six months, then quarterly, and be analyzed for tracer concentration. The
protocol for tracer analysis will be developed as part of the tracer test procedure.
3.5 Reporting
During this period of long term adit monitoring, the relevant data gathered as described above will
be summarized in a quarterly report for submittal to DMG. This quarterly report will then
supersede the monthly reporting requirements described in Section 2.
