TR-26 Well Permit <br />>n SGC's TR-26 application, SGC stated that removal of tailings during the Power Plant <br />Tailings removal project may expose groundwater. The Division, as part of the adequacy <br />review process, required SGC to contact Jeff Titus of the State Engineers Office to <br />determine if a well permit was required or if a notice to construct a pond was required. <br />Jeff Titus was contacted and SGC answered the adequacy review issue with the following <br />statement/commitment. <br />Jeff Titus of the State Engineers Office, Division of Water Resources (DWR) was <br />contacted concerning exposure of groundwater during the reclamation project and <br />the possible construction of a pond. He agrees that with the limited information <br />now available it would be acceptable for SGC to wait until the information <br />needed for a General Well Permit is available. If a pond that exposes groundwater <br />is constructed, SGC will obtain a General Well Permit from DWR. <br />On August 5, 2005, Jeff Titus of the State Engineers Office, Division of W ater Resources <br />inspected the Power Plant Tailings azea and verbally notified me that with the small <br />exposure observed, he saw no need for an application for a well permit. Therefore, SGC <br />believes its commitment concerning well permits for exposure of groundwater in the <br />Power Plant Tailings removal area has been fulfilled.
