With the area reduction granted in AR-2, no
corresponding reduction in the monitoring program was defined. Four of the surface
monitoring points specifically monitor potential impacts from Tailings Ponds #1, #2 and
#3. BC-1 and BC-2 monitor for impacts from Tailings Ponds #1 and #2 and SCTP3-1 and
SCTP3-2 monitor for impacts from Tailings Pond #3 (see attached map). SGC requests
clazification that with the release of Tailings Ponds #1, #2 and #3 from the permit area,
future monitoring of sites BC-1, BC-2, SCTP3-1 and SCTP-2 would serve no MLR
permit purpose and can be discontinued.
