Box 3
Granby, CO 80446
Re: Ground Water Observation Well Plan for Gravel Pit Expansion, Granby, CO
Dear Mr. Thompson:
This letter constitutes ERO Resource Corp.'s (ERO) ground water observation plan in
support of the proposed gravel pit expansion onto property owned by Thompson
Properties northwest of Granby, Colorado. This observation plan was prepazed in
response to a requirement put forward by the Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining
& Safety's Mined Land Reclamation Boazd in a hearing on January 14, 2007. The plan
calls for the installation of three ground water observation wells on the northern and
eastern boundaries of the gavel pit expansion property and the measurement of ground
water elevations in the wells for five consecutive quarters prior to commencing mining
activities. The purpose of the ground water measurements is to determine the ground
water flow direction at the property and to establish a baseline for site-wide ground water
elevations that can be referenced after mining activities have commenced. It is our
recommendation that the depth to ground water should continue to be measured quarterly
in the wells after mining activities have commenced.
Observation Well Installation
The three observation wells will be installed along the property boundary in the areas
of the three adjacent domestic wells. One well will be located in the southeast comer of
the property near the Spurlin well, one well will be located in the northeast corner of the
property neazest to the Hansen well and one well will be located in the north-central
portion of the property near the Mirabito well (Figure 1). The wells will be installed
using anair-rotary drill rig to the top of bedrock, which is anticipated to be between 65
and 70 feet below ground surface (bgs) based on drilling logs from the above-mentioned
domestic wells. The wells will be completed with 10 feet of 2-inch diameter PVC well
screen and 55-60 feet of solid PVC casing to approximately 4 feet above the ground
surface. Silica sand will be installed in the well borings around the casing to a depth of 5
feet above the well screen, bentonite will then be installed to a depth of 10 feet bgs and
concrete grout will be installed to the ground surface. The wells will be secured by a
lockable steel riser embedded in the concrete. Once the wells are installed, their locations
Eonso!lann rn
Natural Resourres
and the Environment
