serve as a suitable cover which will not drive out the Mountain
Mahogany while it establishes itself. Please commit to reseeding
all disturbed areas as described above.
The plan outlined in the amendment application for reclamation of
the tree pads is adequate. This includes a 6-foot spacing between
Ponderosa Pine seedlings set in a diamond pattern. The Division
recommends that the tree pads be blasted as soon as possible to
allow for the settling of topsoil into the voids and for the
further accumulation of fine material for a couple of years prior
to planting. The applicant must commit to a 50% survival rate for
a period of 3 years before the bond can be released.
11. The Division will require the installation of at least one
demonstration tree pad on the existing permit before any new areas
are disturbed. This can either be in the lower, eastern .slopes of
the permit area or near the crest of the mine area.
Please call me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Gary Curtiss
Environmental Protection Specialist
cc:Carl Mount, DMG
:West Arapahoe Soil Conservation District
:City of Aurora Planning Department
M\MIN\GSC\SLAB\adequacy.ltr
4
