. Mid-Term Review Responses III
West Elk Mine Permit C-80-007
Page 4
of monitoring well information is provided to assist in locating this information in the permit.
MCC's Geologist has comple[ed a review of the geology files in reference to the missing
information you had requested. A copy of his memo is appended. Please reference the attached
summary regarding the "missing" information, as well.
MCC reviewed Map 34, Exhibit 12 and the permit sections addressine water monitoring to
identify missing wells. The following wells appeared on 1\tap 34 but not in Exhibit 12 or in the
permit text: 136. 38-H2.~ E80A, O-~, B-14W, SG-3, SG-3, SG-d, R-I, riL-l, and B-6W.
Well 38 H2A is apparently a completion within the same hole as 38-H2. Information on drill
holes B-6W and B-14W was located in the International Engineering Company report from 1976.
Logs for these wells are appended for incorporation into Exhibit 12.
Information was also located on wells SOM-E-80H (correct designation for E-80A), R-1, and
AL-1 and is appended for incorporation into Exhibit 12.
No information was located in MCC files on wells 136 or 0-~
5. MCC revised Map 58 as requested in question 8 under the Vegetation and Soils section.
MCC added the locations of the cross sections to Map 58 for ease of use by the Division. The
cross section information did not change, therefore, there was no need to update the cross
sections. The cross sections remain accurate with respect to post-mining topography. Additional
cross sections may be drawn by the Division based on the approved post-mining topography on
Map ~8 and the current topography on Map 53.
BONDING
Exhibit 68 will be updated with the Phase III structures.
Please contact me should you have further questions.
SincerQely~ ~~~~ ~G~
!`Lu~a'~a!k~i t 'C/
Kathleen G.
