L°nF
, Division D"enor
RE: TR-13 Adequacy, Pit 1 Final Configuration,
Kerr Coal Company, Marr Mine, Perini[ No. C-80-006.
Dear Mr. Patterson:
The Division's review of TR-13 has generated additional comments to those stated in our
previous letters addressed to Mr. Leidich, dated 2/24/95 and 3/10/95. The additional
comments include:
1. Maps 37A and 37B differ in details concerning a road crossing ditch PD-4. Map
37A, Postmining Topography, shows a 600-foot long section of mine road
extending from the mine entrance road to the southwest corner of Pit 1.
Previously, this road provided access through Pit 1 from the mine entrance road.
Map 37B, Pit 1 Supplemental Backfill and Grading Plan, does not show this road.
Please update Map 37A to reflect current road configuration for drainage ditches
PD-4, PD-5 and culvert PC-3.
2. Maps 37A and 37B differ in details concerning the peak elevation of the ridge
which defines the western extent of Pit 1. Map 37A shows the west ridge of Pit 1,
rising to a peak elevation of 8325 feet. Map 38B shows this same ridge rising to
an elevation of 8315 feet. Ridgeline topography is a theme of TR-13. Ridgeline
elevations also affect material balance calculations. Please update Map 37A to
reflect the proposed postmining topography.
3. Map 37A (1/30/95 certification) shows a 400 foot diameter area marked as "Solid
Waste Disposal Area". The permit does not currently identify this area as being
an approved disposal site for solid waste. The Division would like to address this
issue under TR-12. Please remove the reference to the proposed disposal site
from Map 37A submitted with TR-13.
