I am writing this letter in response to our telephone conversation
of April 5. This letter will address several of the issues we
discussed. The remainder of the issues (e.g. the location of the
records, two maintenance items and the annual hydrologic report) will
be addressed by Walden Coal Company on or before June 30, 1989.
Walden Coal Company hereby requests an extension of the deadline
for submitting cross sections, longitudinal profiles, and a location
map for the benches which were built to control runoff from the Bourg
property. The construction of the benches was completed late in the
Fall of 1988. There was not time to get the benches adequately
surveyed prior to the first snowfall. A surveyor will survey the
benches as soon as weather permits and the results of that survey will
be submitted to the Division by June 30, 1989.
I have enclosed a minor revision application to alter the water
monitoring plan to sample Wells 30C and 33B which you requested instead
of Wells 30A and 33C which the Division requested last year.
Finally, I feel the need to emphasize the fact that Walt and
Sharlene Ayres are no longer employees of Walden Coal Company. They
should not be contacted by Division personnel either at home or at
their current places of employment regarding Walden Coal Company
business.
