Long
Dinsion Director
The Division has reviewed the application for a technical revision
for the Terror Creek Loadout to widen the gravel access road to
provide a truck parking/maintenance area. The Division has the
following questions regarding this technical revision. Responses
should be submitted to the Division by August 13, 1993.
SOILS AND VEGETATION
1. Will any vegetation material be removed before topsoil is
stripped? If not, TCC should provide a demonstration in
accordance with Rule 4.06.2(1), to show that the vegeation
cover is necessary or desirable to ensure soil productivity
consistent with the postmining landuse.
2. The Topsoil Handling Plan, Map 8, requires updating to show
where topsoil will be stripped and where it will be stored.
Topsoil should be placed away from mining activities in an
area that is protected from wind and water erosion,
unnecessary compaction, and contamination (Rule 4.06.3(2)).
3. when will seeding be done of the salvaged topsoil?
HYDROLOGY
1. How will the drainage in the expanded access road be handled?
Will grading of the disturbed area (access road and all
parking areas) allow for drainage from the area to be routed
to the sediment pond? The Division assumes that the majority
of the water will be directed towards the berm in the
southwest corner and then into Ditch C below CMP #1.
