Farm Road Pit No. 1, Permit No. M-77-140, Technical Revision No. 2 Adequacy Review
Dear Mr. Mathias:
The Division reviewed your application for technical revision to the above noted permit. The
revision addresses incorporation of several concrete structures into the permit. These structures
include a surge pile tunnel, a crusher control room a couple of retaining walls and six gravel
storage bins.
The following comments must be adequately addressed before the technical revision will be
adequate for approval. Please respond to these comments as soon as possible, or at least by
August 11 , 1999 so the Division has adequate time to review your responses prior to the decision
due date set for August 19, 1999. If you cannot respond by August 11, please submit a written
request for extension of the decision due date. If your responses, or an extension request, is not
received by August 1 1 , 1999, this revision may be denied.
ADEQUACY COMMENTS
There appear to be several concrete structures on-site that were not accounted for in the
current mine plan, or in this revision application. These structures include two concrete pads
to the south of the batch plant building, the roof of the surge pile tunnel, the upper story of
the crusher control room, and an additional gravel storage bin. Please address these
structures in this application. Enclosed are the Division's visual estimates of the dimensions of
these structures. Please indicate if these measures are accurate or provide your measured
dimensions for these structures.
2. Some dimensions of the concrete bins appear to be less than those observed during the May
27, 199 inspection. For example, many of the bin walls are 5 - 6 feet high and it was noted
that three of the bin pads appear to be 1 foot thick. If actual dimensions of each of the bins is
not provided, the Division must use the figures collected during the inspection (see enclosed).
3. Please provide a weed control plan that includes items such as How often the site will be
monitored for weeds, what weed identification qualifications will the monitoring personnel
have, and how will the weed control measures be chosen? As stated in the inspection report,
the weed control plan should be drafted with input from, and be approved by the local county
weed control agent.
DIVISION OF
MINERALS
GEOLOGY
RECLAMATION
MINING•SAF ETY
