• reference area, the primary reclaimed area and the Sagebrush reference azea. Absolute
ground cover was highest for the Aspen reference area followed by Chokecherry reference
azea, Oak Brush reference azea, Sagebrush reference area and primary reclaimed azea.
Vegetation cover was dominated by perennial grasses on the primary reclaimed area, Oak
Brush reference area and Sagebrush reference azea. Perennial fortis dominated the
vegetation cover on the Aspen and Chokecherry reference areas.
1997 Non-contiguous Reclaimed Area Data
Table le when compazed with the reference area data in Table ld shows that
Topsoil Pile B had the highest absolute vegetation cover followed by the Aspen reference
area, Topsoil Pile C, Explosives Storage azea, Oak Brush reference area, Sanitary Landfill
. area, Chokecherry reference area and the Sagebrush reference azea. It should be noted
that for all cover classes, Topsoil Pile B had only one sample site, while Topsoil Pile C,
the Sanitary Landfill area, and the Explosives Storage azea had only two sample sites each
and that the values on Table le aze for descriptive purposes only.
5.3 Production
Vegetation production measured for the 1996 and 1997 studies are shown in
Tables 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d, and 2e. Field data sheets are included in Appendix B.
1996 Data
The original 1996 data (Table 2a) showed that the reclaimed azea exhibited higher total
production than any of the reference areas for that yeaz.
