Yot, GC~~ <br />SUR.JECT: Gravel F'it on RLM land--Section 3~, T14 F69 <br />Pack ground Information <br />The site of the proposed gravel operation is in the <br />Northwest Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 32, <br />T14S f:69W, 6th P.M. The site is north and west of Gillett, <br />in Teller County. The elevation of the area is <br />appror.imately 9700 feet. with mean annual rainfall of about <br />18 inches and additional amounts of moisture in the farm of <br />snow. Current land use is grazeable rangeland, and only a <br />limited amount of shrubs are present on the site. See <br />attached copies of aerial and topographic information for <br />site lor_ation information. <br />Soils have not been mapped in the area vet as the Teller <br />County Soil St.trvey is still being carried out. Soils <br />generally correspond to the Rl-Raleigh, very gravelly SL unit-- <br />see attachments. The site is just east of Fourmile F'oad, <br />and tapers to the east and southeast to an intermittent <br />drainageway--the upper reaches of West Eteaver Creek. Slopes <br />range from 3 percent on the upper, flatter part of the site, <br />to about 8 to 1Q perr_ent on the lower part of the unit. <br />Mean average air temperature is approimately 42 degrees F. <br />On February 4, 1993 -Jesse Bielz and myself made a site visit <br />to the area. Vegetative types were informally inventoried, <br />due to the snow cover preventing a more in-depth review, and <br />the results are listed below. <br />Grasses: Arizona fesr_~_te, prairie junegrass, slimstem <br />and mountain muhiv, <br />Shrubs: 5hru6by cinquefoil, fringed sagebrush and <br />rabbitbrush. <br />Forbs: Fens±emon, asters, herbaceo~_rs cinquefoil , and <br />buc4::wheat . <br />F'ecla.mation Plan, and Comments <br />The city plans to use Fourmile Foad as a haul road to reach <br />Highway 67, due to its immediate pro:;imity to the gravel <br />site. From b to $ inches of topsoil will be left on the <br />site after mining, from soil stoc4::piled at the commencement <br />
