L~ <br /> <br />' The topsoil shall generally consist of material stripped from the surface of <br />the disturbed areas as described in the Earthwork section of this <br />specification. The intention of this specification is to require the diligent <br />replacement of topsoil that has previously been stripped by the Contractor. <br />The Contractor will not be required to import topsoil from an outside <br />source. <br />3.3 FERTILIZER <br />A standard commercial fertilizer shall be uniformly broadcast over all <br />disturbed areas. The application rate shall be 100 lbs. per acre, or as <br />recommended by the manufacturer. The fertilizer shall be applied just prior <br />to commencement of seeding operations. <br />3.4 SEED <br />Seed shall be broadcast at a minimum rate of 30 lbs. per acre. <br />3.5 MULCH <br />Seeded areas shall be covered with mulch as soon as possible after <br />seeding. It shall be applied uniformly at the rate of 2 tons per acre. <br />Hydromulching of the disturbed areas with an approved <br />fertilizer/seed/mulch mix will be acceptable. <br />3.6 EROSION CONTROL MATS <br />3.6.1 Erosion control mats shall be applied to all cut and fill slopes <br />steeper than 1.5:1. <br />3.6.2 Staples shall be installed at a maximum spacing of 4 feet. <br />3.6.3 Mats shall overlap on the ends and sides at least 6 inches. <br />Q:\7333.15C\2003 update\SPECS\SPEC H.doc <br />SPEC.
