3 MATERIALS <br />3.1 STRUCTURAL STEEL SHAPES <br />All assemblies consisting of plate or structural shapes shall be fabricated <br />from ASTM A36 steel, except as otherwise noted on the Drawings. <br />3.2 BOLLARDS <br />Piping used for Bollards shall be ASTM A 53, Grade B, Seamless, Schedule <br />40, except as otherwise noted on the Drawings. <br />3.3 SURGE RISER COVER <br />The Surge Riser Cover shall be made from ASTM B209 6061 Aluminum <br />plate, sheet, expanded metal, and rectangles, except as otherwise noted <br />on the Drawings, and shall be joined by F 593 Stainless Steel bolts when <br />applicable. <br />3.4 PAINT <br />3.4.1 PRIMER <br />Structural items and Bollards shall be primed with one coat TT-P-31 <br />Rust Inhibiting Primer, to 3 mils dry film thickness. <br />3.4.2 FINISH COAT <br />Structural items shall be painted with two coats of a polyamide- <br />epoxy paint by TNEMEC or Sigma to 4 mils dry film thickness. <br />3.4.3 Structural assemblies shall be painted a color similar or equivalent <br />to Pittsburgh Plate Glass (PPG) charcoal green (equiv. Federal No. <br />240971. Bollards shall be painted safety yellow. <br />3.7 FIELD BOLTS AND CONNECTION <br />All field bolting and connections shall be ASTM A325 bolts with one plate <br />washer and one ASTM A563 nut per bolt unit, except as otherwise noted <br />on the Drawings. <br />3.8 WELDING ELECTRODES <br />Welding electrodes shall be Shielded Metal-Arc, AWS A5.1 or AWS A5.5, <br />E70XX. <br />4 FABRICATION <br />4.1 Fabrication of weldments and assemblies shall be to the lines, thick <br />nesses, and dimensions shown on the Drawings. <br />4.2 Full penetration welds shall be applied with no skips, gaps, or other missed <br />application, unless otherwise specified. <br />SPEC.
