2.6 BULK FILL <br />Bulk fill shall include soils, rock, rubble and other material with no physical <br />specification. <br />2.7 EM6EDMENT MATERIAL <br />Embedment Material shall be the envelope of aggregate or select fill around <br />the final location of pipes, including the individual layers variously called <br />bedding, haunching, initial backfill, and foundation. <br />2.8 FOUNDATION BEDDING <br />Foundation Bedding shall include placement of fill below structures and <br />concrete pads above the level of native soil or select fill upon which the <br />structures will be constructed. Foundation Bedding shall generally meet <br />the requirements described herein for Embedment Material. <br />2.9 ROCK EXCAVATION <br />Rock Excavation will be defined as the excavation of material that requires <br />more than two passes with Caterpillar D7 or larger Dozer equipped with a <br />single tooth Ripper or that cannot be removed with moderate effort using a <br />Caterpillar 235 Hydraulic Excavator equipped with a rock bucket (or <br />_ equivalent equipmentl. The Field Engineer, in consultation with the <br />r^ Contractor, will make the final determination. Blasting may be required to <br />remove bedrock materials. <br />2.10 ROADWAY SURFACING <br />Roadway surtacing material generally refers to aggregate material <br />processed on site for the purpose of stabilizing roadway surfaces.
