CYCC is planning to submit a permit
revision in late .Tune. A preliminary plan was submitted in December 1980
in response to an OSM stipulation to justify leaving pit 2 open for 1000r
and a delay in contemporaneous reclamation.
I. Introduction
CYCC is planning to submit a permit revision for a pilot underground mine
project called the Foidel Creek Underground Mine. Plain entries will be
developed from an unreclaimed highwall of pit 2. The pilot project is
proposed to exist from 1982 through 1987 and will serve as a stepping stone
O towards the development and feasibility of a full scale underground operation.
0~ Environmental and operational problems EFC encountered in the nearby Puddle
Q~ Creek Mine will studied and analyzed during the pilot project period.
Approximately 5- A,000 tons/year will be extracted. When and if CYCC decides
to pursue full de"8elopment a new application will be submitted.
V~
II. Operation Plan
The pilot project will be developed on the Theodore Tiekin lease which is
fee coal. This is only a fraction of the area potentially available for
the life of the underground mine.
The permit boundary will have to be extended from 79-177 permit boundaries
to incorporate all areas above the underground workings and area within the
angle of draw. All surface disturbance is within the existing permit boundary.
Coal will,be hauled by conveyor to either tipple 1 or tipple 2 if it can be
mixed for use in CYCC's present contracts. If conveyed to tipple 1 the
railroad track will have to be lengthened.
423 Centennial Building. 1313 Sherman Street Denver. Colorado 80203 Tel. (303) 866-3567
