Sherman
Executive Director
Ronald W. Cattany
Division Director
Natural Resource Trustee
The Division has received your 9 July 2007 submittal of Technical Revision 57 regazding
the drilling oftwo new gob vent boreholes (GVB-LW9-OlB and GVB-LW9-02) and
moving one previously approved gob vent borehole pad (for the angle-drilled boreholes
GVB-LW 10-01 and GVB-LW 10-02, approved for completion with Technical Revision
54, on 9 June 2006). The Division has the following comments regarding Technical
Revision 57.
The disturbance for the two proposed gob vent boreholes and associated light-
use roads will be approximately 2.48 acres. During the approval process for
Technical Revision 53, in September 2005, OMLLC submitted block
cleazances for both Threatened and Endangered Species and Cultural
Resources covering the entire permit azea. All of the disturbances proposed
with Technical Revision 57 are within the current permit boundary so no
additional clearances aze necessary.
2. Technical Revision 57 is a continuation of along-standing gob vent borehole
drilling program at the Sanborn Creek and Elk Creek Mines. Additional gob
vent boreholes have been permitted through Technical Revisions 38, 4l, 46,
48, 53, 54 and 56 and Minor Revisions 56, 57 and 62.
Both of the proposed gob vent boreholes are on US Forest Service Land. On
24 July 2007 the Division received a copy of the USFS approval document for
the proposed gob vent boreholes and associated light-use roads. The approval
was signed on 9 July 2007. OMLLC must comply with any and all
stipulations placed on them by the USFS in the approval document.
Office of Office of
Mined Land Reclamation Denver Grand )unction Durango Active and Inactive Mines
