EXI-IIBIT'E
RECLAMATION PLAN
The planned end use of the property is the restoration of the site as rangeland, suitable for grazing of
livestock, and possible low density residential development.
The excavation of gravels will result in the creation of a relatively flat area, 81 acres in size at an
approximate elevation of 7250 feet, as depicted on the Reclamation Plan Map.
Excavation of the gravel deposit_will be conducted such that the resulting slopes will be at a 3:1 or
gentler gradientc~the completion of reclamation.
The bank slopes and the floor of the excavated area will be plated with 8" to 12" of topsoil as a seed
bed medium. Reclamation will occur concurrently with the completion of mining activities in each
respective Phase As an area is mined, the next scheduled area for mining will be stripped of topsoil
and the soil will placed as specified on the previously affected area, particularly on the graded slopes.
It is unlikely that the floor of the mine will be reclaimed in this manner considering the fact that the
floor of the mine will continue to be used to store processed gravel, and will provide access to
subsequent mining phases. Graded slopes will be reseeded when they have been provided with soil and
mining operations has concluded in the respective Phase. It is intended that reseeding will occur in the
late fall of the year following completion of a phase. Soils that are not used to plate the slopes, as
discussed, will be placed in stockpile in an area of prior mining, near to where it will ultimately be used.
Topsoil placed in stockpile witl be seeded with a heat gras~`vwithin 12 months of being placed in
storage. The soil will not be disturbed until it is used for reclamation purposes.
~~
As an exception to the previously described procedure, as soon as Phase 3 is completed, it seems
reasonable to complete reclamation efforts as the operation moves away from that area. This would
include sloping of banks, plating the graded slopes and the floor with topsoil, and reseeding the area
with specified grasses.
When it becomes apparent that an affected area will not again be disturbed by mining activities, that
area will be fully rehabilitated according to the Reclamation Plan.
It is the desire of the current land owner that revegetation be done with the intention to provide
rangeland forage for livestock, and particularly for horses. Therefore, the final gradient and
revegetation has been selected to accommodate this desire.
Revegetation will be done according to the recommendations of the U.S. Natural Resources
Conservation Service, and the San Miguel Basin Soil Conservation District.
