The haul route, immediately south of the County Line, that is currently being used will continue to be
used to provide access to this operation and the San Miguel County gravel Pit.
The scales and scale office will remain situated where it now is until such time that it may become
feasible to relocate the scaling operation to the north of the county line. At this time, A new access
road will be constructed north of the county line, as is depicted on the Mining Plan Map.
2.
As Phase 1 nears completion, the area of Phase 2 will be affected by removal of overburden soil and
topsoil from approximately 3 acres These soils will be stockpiled as indicated in the Mining Plan Map,
or used in reclamation of previously affected areas.
Mining will be conducted laterally from the west edge of Phase 2 toward the east in a manner indicated
on the Mining Plan Map. Generally, mining will be conducted in a counter clockwise direction through
Phase 5. The portable crusher plant and gravel stockpiles will be situated on the floor of the mine near
to the working face of the deposit as mining progresses through the separate phases.
~-
~ Disturbance to the site will be held to a minimum in that an entire phase will not be stripped of soils
at one time. Rather, only that azea that is scheduled for immediate mining will be affected by stripping
in order to m;n;m;~.e the potential for soil erosion, and air pollution. It is expected that 3 to 4 acres will
stripped at a time in preparation for the next mining setup.
With the exception of Phase 1, the mining of which is expected to be completed in one year, all other
phases are expected to be completed in 5 to 6 years after commencement of each respective phase.
As indicated on the Mining Plan Map, the depth of soils over the gravel deposit ranges from 2 to 5 feet.
The depth of the gravel deposit ranges from 25 to 50 feet, with the greater depth being toward the
center of the site.
As mining progresses, a berm will be constructed along the perimeter of the site inside the property
line, between the permit boundary and the excavation limits. This berm will serve as a visuaUnoise
barrier and soil storage.
3.
With regazd to Phase 5, as depicted on the Premining Map, there is a dwelling , a barn and some small
out-buildings situated on the site. At such time that mining approaches the area of Phase 5, the
buildings will be removed, as well as all service utilities. The anticipated time frame on this removal
of buildings is expected to be within 15 to 20 years after permit issuance.
