EXI-IIBIT D
MINING PLAN
(PREFACE)
The purpose of this application is to amend Pem»t Number M-88-037, a Regular 112 Operation, from
the current 9.64 acres that are permitted to 84.3 acres of total area.
The amendment includes three separate areas:
]. The original 9.64 acres, of which, approximately 7.2 acres have been affected by mining.
Approximately 2.4 acres remains unaffected. This area is situated in Montrose County.
The area that has been used as a gravel storage area, and upon which the truck scale and scale
office is situated. This area consists of 3.24 acres, and is situated in San Miguel County. This
specific area has not been included in a Reclamation Permit, but is now included in this
application in order to provide assurance for reclamation for the site, and to bring the site into
compliance with the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Act. No additional mining activities
will occur in this area, other than that which has historically occurred, including equipment
storage, material storage, and scaling of trucks.
This azea also provides access to the current permitted area, and also is used by the Road and
Bridge Department of San Miguel County as access to their gravel pit that is situated
immediately to the east.
The most significant area that is affected with this amendment is the area primarily north and
east of the permitted area of M-88-037. This area consists of approximately 71.42 acres, and
is situated in Montrose County.
A portion ofthis area, lying immediately west of the existing permitted area, has been affected
by mining, without being included in the permit area of M-88-037. The size of this area is
approximately 1 acre. Although no further mining activities will occur in this specific area, it
is also included in order to provide assurance for reclamation and to comply with the Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Act. The disturbance to this area and the area laying in San Miguel
County occured prior to the time that United Companies submitted the application for a
Succession of Operator, and this application to amend permit number M-88-037.
Please refer to the Pre-mining Map for additional information concerning the areas that have been
discussed above.
The azea covered under Permit Number M-88-037 has previously been known as the Hawk's Pit. It
is requested by the applicant that, hereafter, the site be known as the United/Norwood Gravel Pit.
