Request for review of mining activities vis-a-vis compliance with permit <br />stipulations. Lafarge-Western Mobile: Miller-Gregory Pit-Lyons Operation. <br />II. Widening of the St. Vrain River corridor to be preserved (left intact and <br />natural) within all other areas of the Western Mobile Lyons Pit to be mined <br />in the future by Lafarge. <br />I. Based on a walking tour of the Miller Pit operations (July 1999) provided by <br />Lafarge-Westem Mobile, please be advised of the following acWides which may be in <br />violation of the operating permit. (See Gregory Permit, et. al) <br />1. Mining operations are well within the 200 foot wildlife corridor preserve <br />along the south bank of the St. Vrain River and extend to within 50 to 100 feet of the <br />river. <br />2. Trees have been removed within this critical wildlife habitat corridor. <br />3. Noxious weeds are abundant. <br />4. Mining activities may have been conducted during the raptor <br />breeding/nesting period. <br />5. Mining activities are well within the 300 foot corridor of the Preble's meadow <br />jumping mouse habitat along the St. Vrain River. <br />6. Other Conoems: <br />A. Monitoring of proximal water wells appears to be inadequate to <br />establish a baseline vis-a-vis future mining activities suggesting that an audit of a <br />current and historical monitoring activates is advisable. <br />"Pmlect what's c(osrst to your heart: your family, your friends and your lungs. <br />
