TRAPPER MINE RESPONSE TO PR-1 ADEQUACY RESPONSE DOCUMENT
May, 1987
8. Mine Plan cont.
Also, while reviewing Permit Revision No. 1, there was some confusion
over the respective identity of the William's Fork Strip Pit No. 1, the
Empire Pit, and the Braslin-Simms Pit. This should be clarified. In
addition, for the purposes of the Revision No. 1 Review, more information
is needed about the relationship between the Colt and Browning Pits.
Will [here only be one pit which will progress through the area, or will
there be a time when there are two separate pits? The sequencing of this
operation should be described in sufficient detail for a reviewer to
obtain a good understanding of the entire operation.
Response
The identity of the Williams Fork Strip Pit No. 1, Empire Pit, and
Braslin-Simms Pit will be clarified in our response to PR-2.
Co 1t Pit is a separate pit from Browning Pit. Colt Pit will extract coal
from the L, Q, and R coal seams while Browning Pit will extact coal from
the H and I coal seams. Three copies of Map M-4 from PR-2 have been
enclosed to illustrate and define the C and B Pit areas. However, it
should be emphasized that PR-1 is addressing only those activities which
will occur in 1987. Map M-4 shows 1988 thru 1992 mining in the Colt and
Browning Pit areas.
The mining area labeled C-1988 thru C-1991 is the proposed Colt Pit
expansion found in PR-2. The B-1991 thru B-1992 area is the proposed
Browning Pit. Currently they are proposed as separate mineable units
under PR-2. However, as plans are finalized it may be more economical to
mine portions of these areas at the same time, in the same pit. When
and if this occurs, a technical revision would be submitted in advance.
However, for PR-1 and its associated 1987 activities, this should not be
an issue.
