TRAPPER MINE RESPONSE TO PR-1 ADEQUACY RESPONSE DOCUMENT
May, 1987
4. Surface Water and Sediment Control
Volume for sediment at the Coyote Dam will not be required as long as
methods are detailed to minimize stirring of bottom sediment during pump-
ing of the Colt Pit and as long as the newly-proposed surface mining area
will not drain to the Coyote Dam.
Response
In the past when Trapper has pumped out the north end of active pits, the
pump is either floated on the water surface or suspended above the water
surface. The pump pickup pipe has been suspended above the bottom of the
pit such that excessive amounts of sediment are not picked up. I expect
this same procedure to be followed when Colt Pit is pumped.
According to Map M-51, sheet 2, Coyote Diversion Ditch No. 1 is to carry
pumpage from the existing Colt Pit. Based upon its planned installation
route, it cannot be used to control any significant new disturbance due
to reactivation of Colt Pit.
