Minor Revision No. 134
August 26, 1994
Page 4
Maps 53A-66 (including 54A) has been left off the table
of contents for maps. Also, the page numbering does not
allow for the revised contents to be inserted in the
permit. The list of Exhibits begins on page xvi and the
revised list begins on page xv. In addition, another
revised Exhibit page should be submitted. The revised
page ends with Exhibit 55 and the page currently in the
permit ends with Exhibit 60.
9. Jim Pendleton has reviewed the additional documentation
which was submitted in response to his August 16, 1994
memo. He has the following comments:
A. The surface drainage at both the portal bench
subsoil storage area should be carefully
constructed and maintained in order to ensure that
these piles will remain as dry as possible.
B. Survey monitoring stations should be established,
not only on the north-facing slope of the subsoil
storage area, as proposed by MCC, but in all the
potentially affected sloping areas. Monitoring
stations should be established above and below the
fan portal bench; above, below and on the subsoil
storage bench; and above, below and on the topsoil
stockpile. The monitoring stations above and below
the disturbed areas should be established prior to
the excavation and construction to ensure detection
of any movement during the construction.
10. MCC should provide a commitment in the permit as to the
source of material to backfill the portal openings in
Lone Pine Gulch. Please define what is meant by "river
run". The Division assumes this material to be a
gravelly material, which may not be an appropriate
material to use for backfill, due to general material
instability.
The Division has completed the estimate for the additional
disturbance proposed by this revision and TR#69. The estimate is
enclosed for your review. It was assumed that material to backfill
the portals would .be purchased in the Paonia area at $2.00/ton
loaded and weighed and hauled to the Lone Pine Fan area. The
following tasks were added:
Task 43E New Demolition
Task 44C New Mob/Demob
