•r
0
ifi. Comments Compliance
'. ., Below ere comments on the inspection. The comments in ^_luclr~discussion of
.. ouServuiions rrnpe„during fire inspection. Conment; also dascriue any
enforcement actidhs taken during the inspection and the facts or evider:re
supporting the enforcement action.
The operator plans to construct a roof over the barrel storage area
next to the fuel bay. A revision should be provided to the
Division prior to construction of the roof.
PSOI

' All topsoil and subsoil resources should continue to be protected
from wind,,ppnd water. erosion. ThQ D,iv~s~on would recommend that the
oper•ntor beace using ~iL:bao~l far dori~striictilon pro,jeeks until lan
' accurate topsoil balance can be estimated. This is currently being
calculated in Technical Revision No, fi4. It was determined that
• two topsail piles, formally located along the Sylvester dulch road,
had been moved to the henchea of the refuse pile wi~}ypitt appror•al
Yrom the Divisi.an. TherePare, Nav C-93-113 was issued.
E%CESS SPUiL .4Y1? ~IaV~;LOPMENT WASTG
At the limo of the inspection there was one area on~the western
slope of the pile that woo conveying water over the face at the
refttaa vile. This was evidenced by the formation oP rills that
beyar, at the top of the pile. Prior to the conclusion o{ the
inspection, the operator constructed a berm in this area to prevent
water from flowing over the fees of thF pile. 'The operator
contiril,es xnd should continue to maintain s berm and silt fence
around the perimeter oP lice: pile, at the top of the pile. MCC
should complete lice rnclaniation of the western s:Cde oP t}te refuse
pile, including seeding, prior to the end of tltia field season.
~,,
P~jJD REPUR'C
MB-1: The operator's pond inspection report for .the second
yuarter• oP 1993, noted a seep at 'the NiJ corner of the toe
of the embankment near the SW corner of the surface shop.
At th~s time of the Division's inspection the embankment
was damp, an~i there was standing water of the Gravel Ped
below t},e embanltrner:t. 9'here are catt•aile growing, which
is evidence that lice seep has bean active for some limo,
This area should continua to be monitored, to identify
the source of the water. Thera ware some crooks noted on
the north side oP the pond, on top of the embankment. I
am not sure if the rr•aclts ar•e related to acetlament or
ir,stabllit}'. oP the embankment, 4'he cracks should
continue to t;e monitored to determlrte for signs of
instability, The wul.et• level in MB-1 was low, as t}re
. ~:..
