The memorandum
evaluates both the hydrologic and geochemical aspects of the local system and recent
developments associated with the implementation of the Cease and Desist Order
Response Plan and the water management plan outlined in the Colorado Division of
Minerals and Geology Technical Revision (TR) 26 application. As presented,
measureable affects have been observed since the implementation of those response
activi[es. These affects include the overall draw down of the groundwater table within
the West Pit (i.e., approximately 6 to 7 feet) and a steady improvement of the surface
water chemistry associated with the West Pit seepage front and Rito Seco.
Included with this submittal is an electronic water quality database update. This update
includes all surface water and groundwater quality analyses completed since the
submittal of the original water quality database. After reviewing the attached Technical
Memorandum should you or your staff have any questions concerning these :submittals,
please feel free to contact either Mr. Jim Finley of Shepherd Miller Inc.
