Certified weed free mulch will be applied at the rate of 3000 lbs per acre and will be crimped
into the surface since al] slopes are 3H:1 V or milder.
4. Post Reclamation Site Draina¢e
Almost the entire permit area will drain into the lazge opening which is created by mining and
will likely run towards the northeast corner of the pit. The only areas which will not drain
towards the opening created will be on lands which were not disturbed by mining or small
portions of the reclaimed topsoil stockpiles.
5. Weed Control
Elam Construction, Inc. will use BMP's to control weeds. Problem weeds will be monitored
closely each spring for as long as the permit is active to determine if they are invading the azea.
Weed control will be initiated if the groblem becomes serious. The Division of Minerals and
Geology will be consulted regazding any weed infestation azea and any control measures prior to
their initiation. It may be necessary to control weeds by mowing after the first year; the feas-
ibility of chemical weed control methods will be studied should it be necessary. The plan does
not contemplate total weed removal on the property. Past experience shows that some initial
weed cover in the first yeaz following retopsoiling is beneficial to the reclamation effort in non-
irrigated aeeas such as the slopes. Weeds tend to provide shade for new grasses, aze a means of
holding snow on the seedbed longer and protect it from wind and water erosion until the planted
species have taken hold.
Technical Revision #2, which was approved in June of 2005, outlined a special plan to control
tamarisk and Russian olive trees. This plan is enclosed on the following pages.
i'agneur Pit June 07 E-5
