RECLAMATION
Reclamation shall begin either in late October or early November of
1986. The area shall be contoured to blend with the surrounding
terrain. Steep areas shall be worked to gain an approximate 3:1
(horizontal to vertical) slope. The approximate final contours are
shown on Exhibit V, Borrow Area Post-Mining Topography.
~ The area shall be fertilized, seeded, and mulched. Soil preparation
for reclamation shall be accomplished by obtaining soil samples of
the borrow area and then amending the soil with fertilizer recommended
at a specific rate by a certified soil scientist.
The seed mix is found in Table 1. The seed mix is the same as that
shown on pages 111 and 112 of the permit application with the exception
of the containerized shrubs. We believe that transplanting of shrubs
is the most effective and economical way to achieve revegetation
' success especially in regard to Gambel's Oak, Serviceberry and Wood's
Rose. These particular shrubs shall be transplanted in late fall
of 1986.
The seed shall either be drilled or broadcast, depending on conditions,
at the rates listed in Table 1. An oat straw mulch shall be applied
at 1.5 tons per acre and crimped or netted.
' BONDING
' The borrow area is necessary to satisfy previous commitments for re-
clamation of the Blue Ribbon Mine Bench Project. By covering the
bench with the required four (4) feet of cover, Blue Ribbon Coal
Company, shall complete a major portion of the reclamation for the
' Blue Ribbon Coal Mine, therefore additional bonding should not be
required.
1

1
