(3) PCB spills on soil: <br />(a) Notify Electrical Department personnel <br />(b) Use sorbent booms or pillows to absorb "puddled" PCB oii <br />(c) Excavate contaminated soils and place in a PCB disposal can or cans <br />(d) Clean off any soiled shovels by rinsing over a PCB disposal can using solvent <br />and water <br />(e) Contact the Environmental Department for directions on disposal <br />Nearest Clean-up Equipment: Imbiber bags, PCB cans, solvent, and rags are located in the <br />Surface Electrical Shop. Spill kits are located in the Moly Warehouse. <br />Visual Inspections and Integrity Testing: All Transformers aze checked regulazly by Electrical <br />Department personnel. Quarterly inspections with written documentation aze conducted. <br />Reporting: Minor spills will be reported to the Electrical Department and the Environmental <br />Department. The Electrical Supervisor on duty will be responsible for documenting the spill <br />using the "Spill and Release Information Sheet" given in Appendix 1 and providing a copy to the <br />Environmental Department. The reportable quantity for a PCB spill is one (1) pound <br />(0.07gallons). If waters of the State of Colorado are threatened by a PCB spill, then the reporting <br />requirements of Sections 4.2, 4.3, and 4.4 apply. <br />• Conformance with Applicable Requirements: At the time of this writing (May 2004) there aze <br />no known PCB's at Climax Mine and therefore, the site is in conformance with applicable <br />regulatory requirements. <br />42 <br />
