• 5.2.1.9 Oil Storage at Moly Warehouse
Chemicals: Petroleum Products
Description: Several 55-gallon drums of petroleum products such as Therminol, American
Industrial I50 and 250, Rykon Oil, Cutting Oil, and various greases are stored in the Moly
Warehouse.
Location: South side of Moly Wazehouse, east of Hazardous Waste Accumulation Area.
Spill Potential: Moderate.
Potential Volume Spilled: Mostly likely volume would be one drum.
Prevention and Control: Although no berms or dikes exist, directly behind the storage area is a
concrete lined depression-an unloading ramp-that has a containment volume of 2,500 gallons.
Oil spilled from one of the drums would report to this lazge chute, where it could be cleaned up.
Drip pans filled with absorbent and empty plastic five-gallon buckets aze in use. These
procedures will contain minor spills and drum leakage.
Countermeasures: If a spill of petroleum products occurs outside the drip pans or on the
concrete floor, sorbent booms, pads, or pillows may be used to dike and contain the spill. Soiled
• booms should be scooped up with a shovel and placed in a container for transport and disposal in
Climax' landfill, with the consent of the Environmental Department.
Nearest Clean-up Equipment: Spill kits aze located in the Moly Wazehouse.
Visual Inspections and Integrity Testing: The Moly Warehouse oil storage area is checked
daily during operation of the mill and the open pit; monthly inspections during shutdown.
Reporting: Spills of petroleum products in the Moly Wazehouse should be documented on the
"Spill and Release Information Sheet" immediately (Appendix 1), and given to the
Environmental Department.
Conformance with Applicable Requirements: At the time of this writing (May 2004) the Moly
Warehouse Oil Storage Areas aze in conformance with applicable regulatory requirements.
35
