5.2.1.3 Number 2 Crusher Oil Storage <br />• No. 2 Crusher Oil Storage Areas are currently (May 2004) free of product and <br />wastes. If the mine returns to operation, this area will become an oil storage <br />area once again. <br />Chemicals: Various oils, waste oils, and greases. <br />Description: Petroleum based materials used to lubricate machinery parts, geazs, and equipment <br />in Number 2 Crusher Building. <br />Location: (1) Shop area; (2) ground level storage area, below control room; and (3) basement <br />storage area. <br />Spill Potential: High. <br />Potential Volume Spilled: Most likely one or two 55-gallon drums. <br />Prevention and Control: Operator care in moving drums is the only prevention available. Floor <br />drains and sumps report to the Climax tailing system. <br />Countermeasures: Viscous greases can be cleaned up with floor dry and a shovel. Non-viscous <br />(runny) greases and oils may have to be diked with sorbent booms or pillows. Soiled booms or <br />• pillows may be disposed of in Climax' landfill, with the consent of the Environmental <br />Department. <br />Nearest Clean-up Equipment: A spill kit is available in the east end of the maintenance shop. <br />Salvage drums aze located in the lower level storage azea. Spill kits aze also located in the Moly <br />Wazehouse. <br />Visual Inspections and Integrity Testing: The storage azeas aze checked daily during crusher <br />operation; weekly when not operating. <br />Reporting: All spills greater than 5 gallons should be documented on the "Spill Incident Report" <br />form immediately (Appendix 1), and given to the Environmental Department. <br />Conformance with Applicable Requirements: Since no oil products are in storage or used [at <br />the time of this writing (May 2004)] the facility is in conformance with applicable regulatory <br />requirements. <br />29 <br />
