Specifications <br />E.4 SYNTHETIC LINER <br />This Specification Section describes the work related to placement, seaming, testing, and <br />protection of the synthetic liner for the diversion channels. <br />E.4.1 Materials Description <br />The synthetic liner shall consist of smooth high-density polyethylene (IIDPE) geomembrane. <br />The nominal geomembrane thickness shall be either 40; 60, or 80 mil. The geopiembranc shall <br />be manufactured with products designed and manufactured for the purpose of liquid <br />containment. The geomembrnne shall conform to the following minimum physical requirements <br />listed below. <br /> 40 mil to mil 80 mil <br />Tensile strength at break (2501bs / in width) 160 220 250 <br />Elongation at break (700 percent) 700 700 700 <br />Labels on the geomembrane roll or panel shall identify the thickness, length, width, and <br />manufacturer's mazk number. Transport and storage of the geomembrane material shall be <br />according to manufacturer's recommendations. Geomembranc rolls stored on site shall be kept <br />off of the ground surface and covered. Prior to liner deployment, the outer liner surface of each <br />roll shall be inspected for punctures, scratches or other damage. If the outer linter surface of the <br />roll is damaged, the outer two wraps of the roll shall be removed and discazded prior to liner <br />deployment. <br />The geomembrane shall be manufactured to be free of holes, blisters, undispersed raw materials, <br />Gels, or visible evidence of contamination by foreign matter. Any such defect shall render that <br />roll or panel of material unacceptable for use and shall be replaced with material that is free of <br />any such defects. Defects may be repaired in lieu of material replacement only apon approval by <br />the Field Engineer. <br />E.4.2 Work Description <br />Installation of the synthetic liner shall be only on azeas shown on the Drawings or approved by <br />the Field Engineer. <br />E.4.2.1 Liner Deployment <br />Tndividual panels of synthetic liner shall be laid out and overlapped a minimum of 6 inches prior <br />to welding, or as recommended otherwise by the manufacturer. Where possibly, the overlapping <br />panels shall be shingled, such that the up-slope panel is on top of the down-slape panel. (ht the <br />side slopes of the holding pond, panels shall be placed with the long dimensiotl perpendiculaz to <br />the slope contours.
