PAGE 2
Attachment III: Surface Water Stations Annual Data
The area of concern in this section pertains
to lack of Hydroxide analysis. The lab currently being used did
not analyze for hydroxide in certain samples. This oversight is in
the process of being corrected. The hydroxide values, however,
can be calculated using the Ph value for each sample. By
subtracting the ph value from 14 to arrive at the negative
exponential of the log, the hydroxide concentration can be
determined. Two sites, CCS-2 and CHC-1, were missing all data.
These two sites had no flow at this time. Therefore, there was no
data available.
Attachment IV: Surface water quarterly discharge
Two sites, WPD-1 and MDNE-1, were listed with
no data. Both sites are sealed portals with no discharge. The
remaining sites listed indicate a lack of analysis for 3
parameters, Selenium, Hydroxide, and Fluoride. These parameters
were not analyzed by our lab. I am currently in the process of
making the necessary corrections to prevent further omissions in
the analysis. Again, the hydroxide value can be calculated.
Attachment V: Ground Water Monitoring
Those samples that discharged, did not have the
same three parameters analyzed as in Attachment IV. Correction is
in progress. Several sites were identified as missing data. Those
identified, had no or very little water. This prevented any
information from being obtained. The 4th quarter samples did not
have depth to water results. The information was not recorded on
the summary sheets. The original data is no longer available.
Attachment VI: Stream Cha
Surveys of
at the time of the inspection.
file at the mine. These include
and 1993. Much of the information is on file or
was not required due to lack of water or other conditions. There
were some samples that did not have the necessary analysis done.
This can be traced to lab error. Correction of the lab problems is
underway. Enclosed are the summary sheets for your review.
Sincerely;
alph Lo
Environmental Engineer
