-6-
b. A low spot is shown on the east pond embankment as built drawings. Is this
accurate? If so, the emergency spillway configuration needs to be lowered to
maintain the required 1 foot freeboard. If the low spot has been filed in,
please correct the drawing.
c. Hydraulics for the perforated trash rack need to be submitted to use in
conjunction with the discharge-head relationship of the 2.5" orifice.
d. The schematic of the to-level outlet of the east pond does not represent a 1./5"
orifice. What is represented and what is proposed?
e. Dimensions and notch angles of the emergency spillways do not agree with the
text. Correct configurations are required.
f. 12 inch barrel diameters are indicated on the schematic for the low-level
orifices. Other sources indicate an 9 inch pipe. Also no length was supplied.
Given 2:1 and 3:1 slopes, a crest length of 8 feet, and a height of 8', this pipe
should be upwards of 50' in length. Please provide accurate diameters and
lengths for all spillway barrels.
4. The Division does not approve the wrapping of perforated pipe with a screen or cloth.
This practice has proven not to perform well under field conditions and requires
constant maintenance.
Rule 2.05.4
1. Delete the last sentence of paragraph 1, page 1, "the remainder..." This sentence
binds you to having Burnett doing the work.
2. The text needs to incorporate the statement "that upon conclusion of mining, the well
(or wells) will be transferred to the landowners."
3. Page 2 Sealing of Mine Openings and Drill Holes. All vent holes require sealing and
well and costs for this should be included in the bond estimate.
4. Page 3 paragraph 6, please delete the statement "topsoil will be spread evenly to
required depth, as determined by the test area. and the area planted..." as the test plot
area was not constructed and planted as designed.
5. As noted earlier, the topsoil borrow area will need to be reclaimed as part of the
disturbance area. Therefore, an estimate of the acreage of the area that will be
disturbed by removal of topsoil is required and all associated reclamation costs need
to be incorporated into the bond estimate.
