• Exhibit G •
water availability calculation based on 25% of the average annual rainfall over the
total permit boundary.
If sufficient water is not available through collecting storm water from precipitation on-
site, an application will be made for water rights and approval obtained to either drill a
well or pump water from Eight-mile Creek. An alternative would be to purchase water
from a nearby source of surface or ground water, with appropriate regulatory approval.
Evaporative losses are estimated to be minimal. By limiting mining in the valley floor to
a maximum of twelve feet (therefore above the water table), and keeping about 100 feet
from the creek channel, the operators do not anticipate having standing water in any
pits except immediately following storm events (before the water infiltrates).
7. Preventative measures taken to protect water systems:
Maintain creekside buffer zone to ensure water systems are maintained, including
protection of possible small wetlands areas, preservation of an uninterrupted floodway
and floodplain, and prevention of downstream water degradation due to sedimentation.
Trans-Colorado Concrete October 99
Application for Permit: Spotted Burro Pit Page 22
