M93040GE
2.0 SITE CHARACTERISTICS
Site characteristics include observed existing and pre-
existing site conditions that may influence the cut slope.
2.1 Site Location
The slope is located south of the staging area at the west
portal of the Cyprus Orchard Valley Mine near Paonia, Colorado. A
project vicinity moo is shown on Figure 1.
2.2 Site Conditions
The slope is divided into about two (2) sections by a mid
slope bench. A surface drainage ditch is located on the mid slope
bench. The lower slope portion is a cut slope with an inclination
of about one half (1/2) to 1 (horizontal to vertical) and appears
for the most part to expose formational material. The upper
portion is a cut slope that is currently inclined at about 1.75 to
1. The upper portion of the slope has recently failed.
Observations of the slope indicate that the slope failure may have
been somewhat spontaneous and may still experience continued creep.
The toe of the failure had covered the bench surface drain ditch
with slide debris progressing down slope below the drainage ditch
to the staging area.
3.0 SLOPE STABILITY
The stability of any slope is dependent on many factors
typically the stability of a slope is analyzed by calculating the
2
Lambert ana ~,ssociate.s
COrv$uLTInG GEO~EC nrv~C~L En GIN EEP$ •NO
MITE RIAL TESTING
