Second, vve would like to point out that our goal, as I believe is the Departments goal, is to
create a seedbed that can support a diverse vegetative cover, which will encourage and
support diverse wildlife. I would strongly recommend that the Division reconsider its position
that they will pkxrlate redamation costs to indude the costs of soil amendments for the
seedbeds for bonding purposes as our results suggest that would encourage only grass in the
long run. For diverse vegetative cover that will still provide erosional stability, we will continue to
concentrate primarily on the sandstone overburden for seedbed material and on induding tree
and shrubbery seeds in our seed mbc.
Finally, ove have had a stability analysis study conducted and have requested input from local
e~erls on their advice for pinyon planting. We have fried many of the techniques and will
corronue to work with these everts as we implement various redamation techniques in the
future that go above and beyond the requirements of our redamation plan approved by your
Division. We will also continue to work with the Colorado State Land Board to assure we are
abiding by their desires for post mining use since d is their properly.
7. Please verify the current volume of topsoil available, if any; the number of acres already
seeded; the number of acres left to be seeded, and the number of acres of bare rock to be
covered with at least 2 feet of sandstone overburden.
Please see the attadred report.
8. The Division is cumentiy evaluating material volumes of overburden to be moved to achieve
the final corrtoure as presented in the revision application and will notify Colorado Lien
Company as soon es any questions arise.
As we mentioned, we believe the interim bonds we posted in December of 1997 are more than
adequate. We believe you will reach the same condusions after your evaluation. Please let us
know'rf we can be of assistance.
Thank you for all of your input. We hope to hear from you soon. Please call me 'rf you have arty further
questions or thoughts at (970) 4937017. ~~
~'~~~
Lien, Division President
AtiachmerrLs
cc: Mike Golliher, Fine Grind Superintendent
Rob Kisner, Quany Superintendent
Crag Grotenhouse, Legal Counsel
Ed Hubbeling, V.P.
