Mr. John Leane
Ms. Doralyn Genova
Mr. Jim Spehar
Subject: Parkerson Construction Co.
DeVries Gravel Pit
Dear Board of Commissioners:
The part of ground being asked to make a gravel pit out of in
1992 as ground that is mostly gravel was worked as farmland in
the 1980's.
In late 1970 and early 1980 T.Z. ranch had gravel hauled out to
Orchard Mesa shopping center. The trucks went 31 Road to B 1/2
Road to Hwy. 50. I do think that B 1/2 Road would be a lot safer
for the truck route, because at 32 and C Roads with DeVries
Market also at this corner eight months out of the year people
are stoppint at the market to buy plants and all kinds of farm
cropsarown in the vallev until around the first of the year.
April 6, 1992, 9:30 a.m. at my home, Parkerson trucks come off C
Road and turn on 31 3/4 Road east. They go to B 1/2 Road south
then west on B 1/2 Road. U turn in 1/2 mile that I feel we could
live without that smoke and dirt and breaking 31 3/4 road down.
WHO PAYS TO PUT OIL BACK? Parkerson should not the taxpayers:
Why are we not showed that this ground can be reclaimed as
Parkerson says? Show us that they can grow all the same plants,
after it seems they have some area mined out that this could be
started on before asking for more farm ground and upset our
plans.
Twenty five years ago when we were able to work on or move on are
old folks being taken not able to fight back. We did our
planning ey ars ago. NOT TODAY.
Our little farms and home are very peaceful with children
playing, farm animals and our home orchards, every house with a
yard and a flower bed. It is nice. With trucks all day and dirt
on our gardens and yards it is all gone. We are not able to sit
down to rest or nap in the middle of the day at all.
Where do we go to find peace? In 20 years here they come again,
move on. We want this as farmland as zoned, as it is the best
in the valley. I fell we are being raped by a few to make bid
dollars. We are left with a hole in the ground. Maybe a bond
put up by them to make it in a park or something people enjoy at
their cost is appropriate.
Chuck Hahn
31 1/2 & C Roads
