the area below the Fan Level.
7. The Postmining Contour Map submitted by Bowie depicts reclamation of the various
levels at the mine site. The Map does not depict reclamation of the lower portion
of the mine site east of the refuse pile and the existing sediment ponds. The
Division has not granted retention of any of the sediment ponds located at the Bowie
Mine No. 1 defined under Rule 4.OS.9(1}. Please revise the Postmining Con[our Map
to depict the reclamation plan east of the refuse pile as well as removal of the
sediment ponds.
8. The Division was unable to locate designs for the post-mining drainage channels
depicted on Map 6A-SN. Please provide the channel designs, or inform us to where
they are located in the permit.
9. The revised Postmining Contour Map does not depict the permanent diversion
ditches around the refuse pile. Please locate these ditches on the map.
10. The Facilities Map depicts three gob pile areas; the Waste Ridge Waste Disposal
Area, the Old Waste Disposal Area, and the pile located adjacent to the Stoker Bin
and the Crushing & Screening Plant. Bowie should decipher on the map which piles
are permanent, and which piles are temporary in nature. Please revise the Facilities
Map accordingly.
11. As required under Rule 2.OS.4(2), the permit needs to be revised to include detailed
reclamation plans for any roads which are to be modified for retention as part of the
post-mining land use. This would include any realignment, width reduction, or
resurfacing that may be required. The Division was unable to locate a plan in the
permit. Please submit a plan to include a detailed description of the proposed road
reclamation activities of the haul road.
The Division's decision due date for this revision is August 30, 1996. Please respond to
these concerns prior to this date. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
~~ SCE
Erica S. Crosby
Environmental Protection Specialist
cc: David Berry
Larry Routten
c:\wp51\misc\960725
