J. J. Dudash - 2 - June 1, 2005
Permit and Affected Area
The modification of the B-Seam mine plan increases the permit area by 161 acres and
the affected area by 144 acres, from 3,074 to 3,218. A portion of the change in the
affected area is related to areas disturbed since the last time Map 27 was updated.
The DMG's total affected area through the approval MR-58 is 3,148 acres. Based on
this figure, the B-Seam mine plan increases the affected area by 70 acres from 3,148 to
3,218. There is no additional surface disturbance.
Cultural Resources
Lease stipulation number 15 requires a cultural resource survey and paleontological
assessment prior to any surface disturbance including subsidence. The two lease
modification areas will be undermined by mains development with no secondary
extraction. There is no surface disturbance projected in the lease modification areas
and no subsidence projected. Therefore, a cultural resource survey and
paleontological assessment should not be required in the lease modification areas.
Soils
Not applicable, no surface disturbance.
Vegetation
Not applicable, no surface disturbance
Hydrologic Monitoring
No new monitoring required.
Bond
Not applicable, no surface disturbance.
The following revised permit maps are enclosed
Volume II
14-B Mine Plan B-Seam
27 Subsidence
Volume III Hughes Access Agreement
Please call if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
~~~ J~ ""
`J.
