Mr. Dan Mathews
April 1, 1991
Page 2
No bond increase is required for this submittal since the proposed
disturbance area is associated with a sequencing change. The current
reclamation bond, total $3,007,764.00, was based on the "worst case"
year (1987) or about two years into the mining area. TR 11 proposes
additional topsoil removal ahead of mining in order for mining
operations to continue until approval of PR-1. The following
summary compares, by major disturbance/reclamation categories, the
current reclamation bond figures with the projected bond figures as of
July 1, 1991.
Current Bond Projected Bond
Bond Figures Used Figures as of
Ca e o Tn PerTnit .Tuly 1. 1991
Pit Length 6,260 feet 2,900 feet
Topsoil Removal 205.8 acres 171.0 acres
(mine azea)
Revegetation 205.8 acres 178.8 acres
(mine area)
Based on the above information, the $3,007,764 held by the Division
for disturbance is more than sufficient to cover the disturbance
expected by July 1, 1991.
Please find enclosed the insertion instructions, application form, and
proposed public notice for this TR. Peabody requests the Division's
prompt review of this TR. Please contact me or Fred Fest, Manager,
Compliance Engineering if you have any questions or should need
additional information.
Sincerely,
w ~/-e"~'
Gary W.
