..
State Reg.

C 4.2 Future Sampling
Spoil sampling will be concentrated in the Wolf Creek
reclamation area. Spoil will be sampled on a 300-foot grid and
analyzed for pH, manganese, and acid-base potential. A
selectively handled suitable spoil to pdressing or lime
application will be made where acid strata (pH <5 and ABP< -5)
is encountered.
Sampling will also focus on the high clay areas near Core Hole
2034 E. The spoil will be deeply ripped or chiseled plowed
where clay strata exist on the spoil surface.
Regraded spoil from the Lennox highwall reduction area (in the
immediate vicinity of Drill Hole Site 2614E) will be sampled on
a 300-foot grid and tested for sodium. Exposed sodic strata
will either be buried in the final pit or covered with two to
r three feet of suitable spoil.
Postmine spoil water quality will continue to be monitored for
N03-N at Sites BP-0001 and DA-0004. Spoil samples will also
continue to be collected and analyzed for N03- and NH4-N from
representative vegetation transect locations in the 'lodge
mining area.
6-164 Revised 10/1/86
