DBA Fow Comers Materials (formerly Durango Corsstrssction) has applied to <br />the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for permission to excavate a pond on property owned by the <br />Bryce and Thompson families. The property is known as the Thomas Pit Notice to you is required, as <br />yow properly is adjacent to the property on which the pond is to be excavated. Enclosed with this letter is <br />the required legal notice. <br />The proposed pond is to be lapted on a terrace above the river, and will incorporate the abandoned <br />Whispering Pines waste treatment ponds, and the process water settling pond used by the former operators <br />of the pit. The area of the proposed pond is approximately 4 acres, with approximately three acres <br />proposed to be water surface area The exposed banks would be topsoiled and seeded Prior to the pond <br />excavation, stabilization and re vegetation of a posrion of the river bank will ocau. Plans fot the <br />stabilization work are being 5nalized with the Army Corps of Engineers, Division of Minerals and <br />Geology, Deparunent of Wildlife, atxl La Plata County. <br />The proposed misting activity is a osse time event, to begin in the spring of 2002, and be completed by the <br />end of June of 2002. All material excavated from the pond would be tracked off site for processing at <br />another location. <br />The complete application package, including maps asxl detailed plans of the proposed extavation are <br />available at ow office, the I.a Plata County Clerk's Office, and at the Division of Minerals and Geology <br />office.
